“Po is the smallest Teletubby, but she has a big personality.

She is endlessly amused by the world around her,  and has a very soft, young sounding voice.”

I found this description of Po on a website.  This is a perfect way to describe Malena; she was so small for her age, due to some health issues as a baby.  But what a personality!  Malena in her short life touched so many people.   

Teletubbies is one of those programs that many parents hate; you cannot understand the Tubbies unless you are less than four years old or have watched each episode 1,000 times!  I hated it too, until one day I was flipping through channels and Malena heard the “baby sunshine” laugh.  She was mesmerized!  She sat and watched for the whole hour, something that 18 month olds just do not do!  I watched it with her and found none of the offensive things that I had heard about.  So for a year, once a day Malena and I sat down to watch Tinkey Winkey, Dipsey, Laa-Laa and Po in Teletubbyland. 

The baby sunshine is so sweet and her laugh reminded me of Malena because this baby has a laugh that is from the heart always.  So did Malena, even when she was in the hospital with doctors and nurses constantly poking and prodding her, she always smiled at them when they came into the room.

Po was Malena’s favorite Teletubby, she often walked around asking, “Where’s Po”?  Malena did not talk a lot but I can still hear her voice asking for her Po dolls or her Tubbies video.  For the longest time, I could not hear the Teletubbies without crying. Now when the other children watch, I smile and I hope Malena is watching with us from heaven!
